Bohemials

About Bohemials

Bohemials originated in an earlier comic, Albion Fuzz (which itself was originally called Tooth and Claw until I was told it infringed a trademark. It's not really a long story), inheriting two of its characters - Sybil and Alex - its domain name (for now), and a lot of the skills of comicry learnt during its run. You could regard it as AF Mark 2, though the biggest reason for starting it was to draw a line under the original, much of which I find slightly embarrassing. Its archives are still downloadable if you want to see what I mean. Bohemials' own reason for being, other than to turn my mind off for an hour or so a day, is to attempt some interesting and (I hope) artistically useful things with comics. I also hope it proves to make justified use of the 'furry' genre, though after a couple years of wrangling with myself I'm still not sure exactly how to do this, or even if it's important. If you're concerned about these strange creatures, as I was when I first encountered online comics, you can regard the different species as simple visual differentiators for people who are essentially human. Beyond that, feel free to infer, but don't assume that I've set out to imply what you find. (And in the end it is a fiction: if it bothers you you're probably thinking about it too much.)

About the Author

(Actual expressions may vary.)

I'm James Roberts, a first year English student (which should explain a few things) at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. When not working or fretting about my failure to work, I draw these comics. I also compose an electronic kind of music, and have been known to write and direct the odd play. I'm strange to talk to, worrying people with my intensity when discussing things but falling largely silent when it comes to small talk, and I have a sometimes peculiar sense of humour.
